Tantalus (for Grand Organ)

from Works for Grand Organ by Jim Lynch

/

about

Tantalus, son of Zeus, was punished by the gods for murdering his
son and serving him, as food, to the gods. His punishment was to
be imprisoned in water that receded when he tried to drink and to
see beautiful boughs of fruit that bent just beyond his reach
when he tried to eat. A great stone, hanging over his head,
continuously threatened him.

This is a transcription from my larger symphonic work "Tantalus" composed in 1996.
